damage:指部分性的损坏,意味着损坏后价值降低,有损于功能、吸引力及效率降低.
destroy 指完全彻底的破坏,常有不能或很难修复的意思.
harm:较为通俗和口语化,指身体或精神上的损害,是级小的injury,仅引起不便或不安.
hurt:可用以指肉体的或精神的伤害,特指拌有痛苦的肉体伤害,用法不如injury正式.
injury:指侵犯权利、自由或身心健康,导致失去部分或全部某种有价值的东西,该行为已达到起诉程度.

注意injure与wound,damage,harm,hurt,break,ruin和destroy的区别
①wound是指用枪弹或刀、剑等锐器故意施加的伤害
②damage主要指对价值和功能的损坏,主要用于无生命的东西,其破坏程度较小,一般可以修复.
③harm指对人或物的伤害或损坏,多用于有生命的东西,常指伤及一个人或其健康、权力、失业等.
④hurt主要用于有生命的东西,既可指肉体上的非故意伤害,也可指感情上的伤害.
⑤injure与hurt程度基本相同,但较正式,在事故或天灾中受伤常用这两个词.
⑥destroy意为“毁坏、消灭”,指通过某种有力的或粗鲁的手段使之毁灭或消灭.
⑦break强调“打碎”之类的毁坏,范围和用法较广.
⑧ruin强调毁灭的彻底性,并且是一次性的行为.

others为other的复数形式,other和one对称使用,仅限于两者之间；others和some对称使用.如；1.She has two children.One is a student.The other is a worker.2.Some students like learning science while others like art.
other和the other的区别 other 用做形容词,修饰名词或代词,一般不能单独做主语或宾语；the other用做代词,可以做主语或宾语.
others 和the others的区别仅仅在于定冠词的问题,有the为特指,有一定的范围
如：Some students of Class Two went to the cinema while the others were studying in the classroom.(仅仅是二班的学生,没有其他学生）；上面的例句2就没有范围,指所有的学生.

和some对比使用时,是“有些”的意思而不是做“其他”讲.
the other
是其中的“另一个”,如：
Give me the other one not this one.

the others
是“其余的”意思,表示在一个范围内的其他全部,如：

这五个词中,看似相同,其实还是有一些小小的区别.

2.abandon一般用于人,比如说 abandoned children 被遗弃的孩子.
3.discard 在一些时候解释为取消 例如 英文系统的电脑里,提交一份在线文件,有“确定”,“取消”,“返回”等选项按键.这里“取消”写作“discard”.
4.desert 多用于解释为沙漠,在作动词的解释“丢弃”的时候可以适用于任何场合,不过不常见.

the other意为the second of the two,指两者中的另一个,系特指,常与one连用.例如：

others意为some of the rest,所指的是三个以上的人或物中除去以知部分后“余下部分中的某一些”,非特指.

Three of you go there,and the others stay here.你们之中有三个到那边去,其余的全待在这儿.
“this”、“that”既可以作形容词,又可以作指示代词；而“it”只能作代词.one可用数词又可作代词.
指“物”
1.“this”指近物,“that”指远物,“it”没有远近之分.如：
This is a computer.这是一台电脑.（在近处）
That is a bike.那是一辆自行车.（在远处）
2.在回答“this”和“that”作主语的疑问句时,常用“it”代替“this”和“that”.如：
－Is this/that a car?这/那是一辆小汽车吗?
－Yes,it is./No,it isn′t.是的,它是./不,它不是.
－What′s this/that?这/那是什么?
－It′s a ruler.这/那是一把尺子.
3.陈述在一起的两样东西时,应先说“this”,后说“that”.如：

4.one与it的区别
one指代上文提到过的同类事物中的一个,但不是上文提到的那一个事物.如果指同类事物中的一些,要用ones.如：
This apple is small.Please give me a big one.
这个苹果小,请给我一个大的.
These books are mine.Those ones are Lily's.
这些书是我的,那些书是莉莉的.
it指代前文中提到过的那一个事物.如：
My bike is very old,but I like it very much.
我的自行车很旧,但我很喜欢它.

few,a few,little,a little
虽然都表示“少”,但
（1）few,a few是可数的,little,a little是不可数的.
（2）a few,a little含肯定意味,few,little含否定意味.这里所谓的“肯定意味”和“否定意味”应该这样来理同样是半杯水,口渴者会认为：There is little water in the glass.而不口渴的人则会认为：There is a little water in the glass.
一：
1．few修饰可数名词复数.
2．few (= not many; hardly any)含否定意义；a few (= some; several; a small
number of) 含肯定意义.
3． not a few = no few = quite a few = a good few = many.
4． 当 few受 every,last,past,next,some,very等词所修饰时,表示肯定意义,few之前不再有冠词.如：
In the last few minutes,he checked up his paper again.
It took us some few days to repair the machine.
They are very few in number.
There were too few of them.
He goes to see his grandma every few weeks.
5． 在非正式文体中很少见,一般用或代替,如：
Only a few people attended the meeting.
另外,little / a little
Little remains to be done about it.(作主语)
A little remains to be done.
Please give me a little.(作宾语)
He knows a little of everything.
There is very / but little time left.(作定语)
Don’t worry; you still have a little time.
1． little修饰不可数名词,表示“量”.
2． little含否定意义(反义词：much)；a little含肯定意义(反义词：none).
3． 在非正式英语中,一般很少用little,常用not much,only a little来代替,如：
We haven’t got much money / time.
some time 是名词短语,意思是一段时间,可以用于过去时或者将来时
sometime 是副词,表示某个时候,也可以用于过去式或将来时
some times 是几次的意思
sometimes是副词,是有时得意思,指时常,有时发生的动作或事情.
例子：1.He will stay in Britain for some time.
2.Let's have a dinner together sometime next week.
3.Itried some times,but I couldn't do it.
4.Sometimes we are busy and sometimes we are not.
