首先声明：下面转帖,不是我写的.但感觉分析非常的棒,希望对你有所帮助!
这2个有关forget的片语都是很“地道”的英语短语,生活中、电影里经常听到,也非常有用,但初学者（甚至很多学了多年英语的人）却无法“一针见血”地区分开来.坦白说,我之前也混淆过,曾上网搜了一下别人的解答,发现很多人都没说到“要点”上：要么是自己都分不清楚,要么是只说对了部分.为此,今天专贴一文,希望对后来者有所帮助.
forget it 和 forget about it 的根本差别是使用场合（occasion）或时机（timing）的差别,意思很接近.
1、forget it：用于双方正在谈论（尚未结束）的话题
（1）忘记某事,算了,就当没说（自己提起话题）：主要用于自己先提及某事,然后又突然觉得不妥、不合理、不太可能会实现,于是决定改变主意并告诉对方说“还是算了,这件事就当我没说”.也就是告诉对方刚才一时糊涂说的不作数,还是忘掉的好.
（2）得了,别做梦了,别妄想了（对方提起话题）：主要用于对方提起某个想法,但自己不同意或者认为对方太过分（如无理要求）,于是警告或提醒对方“少来这一套”或“你想得倒美”.也就是告诉对方不要有这种想法,如果有的话赶快忘掉.
2、forget about it：用于提到双方以前谈及（现在重提）的话题
（1）忘记了之前对方说过的话,或者彼此说到/承诺过的事情（不论之前谁提起话题）：about其实是around（在……周围,围绕,大约,关于）的同义词,这个短语中有about就是因为现在重提的事情跟过去某个时候说到的事情相关.
我相信,经过这么详尽的分析,我们应该很容易区分它们的差别,今后也就不会用错了.
